We stock two primary categories of water storage tanks — vertical tanks for stationary storage and horizontal tanks for transport and flexible placement. All tanks are manufactured from food-grade, UV-stabilised polyethylene and carry a 10-year warranty.

Vertical Water Storage Tanks

Vertical tanks are the most common choice for residential, agricultural, and commercial water storage. Their upright design minimises the footprint while maximising capacity, making them ideal for installation alongside buildings, in yards, or on farms. Available from 100 litres all the way up to 20 000 litres including a slimline range.

What sizes of water tanks do you stock?

We stock vertical tanks from 100 litres up to 20 000 litres (15 sizes), and horizontal tanks from 250 litres to 5 500 litres (6 sizes). Contact your nearest Stewarts & Lloyds branch for current stock and availability.

Are your water tanks food-grade and safe for drinking water?

Yes. All tanks we stock are manufactured from virgin food-grade UV-stabilised LLDPE polyethylene and are suitable for the storage of potable (drinking) water.

What is the difference between a vertical and a horizontal water tank?

Vertical tanks stand upright and are ideal for fixed storage installations at homes, farms, or commercial properties. Horizontal tanks have a lower profile and are better suited for transport on bakkies and trailers, or for installation in spaces where height is limited.

Why do water tanks have a black lining?

The black polyethylene lining in a tank blocks sunlight, which inhibits the growth of algae inside the tank. This helps keep stored water clean and extends the life of the tank. Our tanks are available in all standard colours and custom colours on request.

What warranty do your water tanks carry?

The tanks we stock carry a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty from date of purchase. The warranty covers repair or replacement of a defective unit and is subject to correct installation and use as per the manufacturer’s guidelines. Replacements are calculated on a pro rata basis based on usage and remaining warranty period.

Can I buy a water tank directly from Stewarts & Lloyds?

Do you supply water tanks for agricultural use?

What liquids can be stored in these tanks?

Our tanks are rated for water (SG 1.0), medium liquids (SG 1.3), and heavy liquids (SG 1.5) depending on the model. They are not suitable for liquids above 40°C or chemicals incompatible with LLDPE polyethylene. Always confirm suitability with your branch for non-water applications.

Are tank stands available?

Yes. Tank stands are available for 2 500 Lt, 5 000 Lt, and 10 000 Lt vertical tanks, in 1 m, 2 m, or 3 m heights. Speak to your nearest branch for availability and pricing.
