Stewarts & Lloyds have been supporting the annual CANSA Shavathon for many years, showing solidarity with those who face a cancer diagnosis. This year our branches went all out in supporting CANSA’s 19th National Shavathon and were able to collectively raise an immense R101,371 for the CANSA Foundation!
The branches were encouraged to show their creativity when organising their Shavathon events – and they sure did! Alrode South branch organised a Potjiekos Competition alongside their Shavathon, while Robertville branch hired a ‘Dunk Tank’ – encouraging staff to nominate their favourite manager to be dunked!
Witbank branch went above and beyond, hosting two shavathons this year and Polokwane branch made an effort to participate in the CANSA Shavathon even though they were moving shop on the day.
Nelspruit branch raised an incredible amount of money by hosting a “Rocking 4 Cancer” concert while the Port Elizabeth team had the whole of PE’s Bikers join their Shavathon, bringing teddies together with cash donations and hosting a band at the branch. The teddies were then donated to children suffering from Cancer at the Cancer ward.
Our Central Purchasing and Distribution Centre organised a day filled with carnival fun, offering a prize to the person who could stay on the mechanical bull for the longest. While all branches showed great spirit and enthusiasm, our Central Purchasing and Distribution Centre managed to take home the spirit trophy this year. Well done DC!
It was amazing to see all the branches go out of their way in an effort to raise funds for and stand in solidarity with those affected by cancer. Well done to each and every person who was involved in making this drive a massive success! Stewarts & Lloyds’ are proud to have supported and continue to support this very worthy cause, and look forward to challenging ourselves to raise an even bigger amount next year!
