teel and tube supplier Stewarts & Lloyds Booysens branch manager Ryan Purdon tells Engineering News & Mining Weekly that the group plans to open its Booysens-based retail store, at the end of the month.
“Stewarts & Lloyds anticipates that the brand-new retail store, which embodies a new look and feel, will become our core flagship store, and will also provide a blueprint for the group going forward.”
He explains that the building has been under construction for the better part of the year, with progress continuing despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.
The new retail store will offer a better customer experience by offering a wider range of products and stock, and is expected to facilitate the growth of Stewarts & Lloyds client base in the area.
The Booysens branch is, by virtue of its age, one of the largest branches in the group, and contributes significantly to the overall group profitability, enthuses Purdon.
“Therefore, we believe, that it is the perfect time to relaunch, not only to keep the growth of the group on an upward spiral, but also to stay abreast of current trends,” he notes.
The relaunch event, which spans three days, will include a private day whereby executive committee members and management teams will attend a formal opening celebration and tour of the new facility.
The second day will be customer-orientated looking at introducing clients to the new facility and its increased offerings. The festivities will include networking, food and music. There will also be prizes on offer.
Purdon explains that clients that pre-register on the Stewarts & Lloyds website stand the chance of winning a prize to the value R 2 500.
The third and final day will be run similarly to the second but will also enable retailers to set up stands to display their offerings.
Purdon points out that Stewarts & Lloyds is a leading supplier of quality steel and tube products, pipes and fittings, valves, pumps, irrigation, fencing and hardware products.
Its markets include light and general engineering, mining, rural water, chemical, petrochemical, automotive, agriculture, water reticulation, building and construction, fire protection and local authorities
Stewarts & Lloyds supplies throughout South Africa through a network of 32 strategically located branches.
“We are also very excited to be celebrating our twenty-first birthday, in terms of the retail portion of the business, which will coincide with the launch,” he concludes.
